Relation: Good friend and Club member of 19WCYC in Comox

Seven years ago, when we were posted to Comox, Don was one of the first people who made us feel welcome. We were new to the area and knew very few people. We got involved with the 19 WCYC. He taught Derrick and myself to sail. Being a prairie girl, I was very nervous about the water and knew very little about boats. His patience and love of the sport was contagious and helped to ease my fear of sailing. Don visited us often and we looked forward to his frequent phone calls saying he would drop in. We will miss his visits and his ‘joie de vivre’.

We are so very sorry to hear about Don’s death. Finally made it back to the Island with intentions of catching up while sailing! Here’s hoping Don is having best sailing adventure ever!
